Chiron Center, Inc. is proud to present our Crisis Response
Team (CRT) Training #23 beginning on Thursday, October 6th, 2016 from 6 – 9pm. This
free training meets weekly for eleven (11) consecutive Thursdays from October 6th to December 15th (no
class on November 24th during the Thanksgiving holiday). Class size is limited to the first 30 qualified
The first six weeks of the training feature
guest speakers from Police, Fire, and Sheriff’s Departments; The Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office; The Rape
Treatment Center; Our House (children’s experience of grief and loss); Survivors After Suicide; Compassionate Friends
(parents’ experience of the death of a child); Sojourn (domestic and family violence); and other specialists in the
field of traumatic loss. Applicants who only attend the first six weeks will receive an 18-hour certificate of completion.
The remaining four weeks of training, November 17th – December 15th
(no class the week of Thanksgiving) are offered by invitation only and will include advanced training specific to the CRT’s
on-scene response. In order to become eligible to join the Crisis Response Team, candidates must attend all ten weeks
of the CRT training, as well as successfully pass: a written exam, performance evaluations, and a security screening
including fingerprinting. Candidates are probationary status until they have successfully responded to three on-scene
CRT calls (complete with Executive Team evaluations).
